Shanxi athlete wins two golds at National Alpine Skiing Championships

Shanxi athlete Liu Juntong clinched the championship title in the super giant slalom event on Feb 16 at the National Alpine Skiing Championships, marking his second gold medal following his victory in the downhill event on Feb 15.

The championship is the most prestigious event in Chinese alpine skiing. It features six events and attracts 155 participants, including national team members fresh from competing in the 9th Asian Winter Games.

During the men's open downhill event, Liu started from an altitude of 897 meters and raced down a 465-meter vertical drop track, showcasing his speed and precision. With an impressive performance, Liu secured the title with a time of 55.12 seconds.

The highly anticipated super giant slalom final, a technical skills test, featured 32 athletes vying for medals. Liu once again demonstrated remarkable prowess, securing victory with a time of 1:5.06.

The National Alpine Skiing Championships features competitions in four more events. Shanxi athletes are expected to maintain their excellent performance and achieve further success.
