Taiyuan Metro Line 1 commences operation

Taiyuan Metro Line 1 began operating on Feb 22 in Taiyuan, North China's Shanxi province. On its inaugural day, it carried 235,600 passengers, setting a record.

The Taiyuan Metro Line 1, a crucial livelihood project, runs from Helongwan Station in the west to Wusu No 1 and No 2 Terminal Station. It covers a total distance of 28.74 kilometers and has 24 stations.

As the main backbone of Taiyuan's metro network, Line 1 traverses the administrative districts of Wanbailin, Yingze, and Xiaodian, connecting key transportation hubs like Taiyuan Automobile Passenger Transportation Station, Taiyuan Railway Station, Taiyuannan Railway Station, and Taiyuan Wusu International Airport.

Line 1 helps alleviate urban traffic congestion, accelerates overall urban development, and boosts economic and social progress. It also plays a vital role in enhancing Taiyuan's function as a national comprehensive transportation hub.

It is operated by Taiyuan Rail Transit Line 1 Construction and Operation Co, a joint venture between 16 entities within the railway system authorized by China Railway Construction Corporation Limited and Taiyuan Rail Transit Group Co.
