NPC deputy Li Lili: Promoting greener, low-carbon wastewater treatment
Updated: 2025-02-27
Li Lili, a deputy to the National People's Congress (NPC) and chief engineer at Shanxi International Energy Group's water company, has dedicated 16 years to the wastewater treatment industry.
Focusing on green and low-carbon wastewater treatment, Li's proposals have received positive responses from relevant authorities, leading to the introduction of regulations that have propelled industry growth.
Li stated that the responses to her suggestions have encouraged her to conduct further grassroots research and provide better proposals for the green, low-carbon, and high-quality development of the wastewater treatment industry, fulfilling her role as an NPC deputy for the people.
In 2024, Li's wastewater treatment plant installed photovoltaic panels on the rooftops of the facility and its biochemical pool. With a quarter of the plant's electricity coming from solar power, her next target is establishing a zero-carbon factory.
Li suggests that further emphasis be placed on the construction of reclaimed water pipelines, particularly in industrial parks or during road construction. This would enable users to access recycled water and support sustainable development.
