This year, North China's Shanxi province will strive to become an educational powerhouse, focusing on the quality of public education services, the deepening of education reform and opening-up, and the integrated development of education, science and technology, and talents.

The province will optimize universities' layout structure, promote their scientific and technological innovation, systematically accelerate the adjustment of disciplines and majors, and focus on building a modern vocational education system. Measures will also be taken to promote the employment and entrepreneurship of graduates.

To enhance public education services, efforts will be made to increase public preschool education resources, improve the quality of compulsory education, promote the revitalization of county high schools, and advance policies to reduce homework and extracurricular training for compulsory education students.

Shanxi will focus on optimizing the allocation of teacher resources, continuously enhancing teachers' professional competence, and deepening efforts to reduce teachers' workload to build a high-level teaching workforce.

The province will also concentrate on deepening education reform and opening-up by advancing comprehensive education sector reforms, implementing educational digitalization strategies, and expanding educational cooperation and exchanges.
