Shanxi province has introduced the "Implementation Plan for the Comprehensive Development of the Digital Economy in Shanxi (2026-28)", which aims to accelerate the province's digital economy growth and foster deeper integration between digital and traditional economies.

The plan outlines the optimization and upgrading of traditional network infrastructure, with a strategic push to evolve 5G networks to 5G-A. Shanxi is also actively seeking to launch 6G trials in major cities like Taiyuan, with plans to commence commercial deployment. 

Efforts will be made to develop and apply AI equipment in complex environments, creating a series of "AI+" demonstration projects and smart native software and hardware products in specialized fields. 

Shanxi will continue advancing intelligent coal mining construction and routine operations. AI applications will be expanded in critical areas such as geological exploration, coal mining, processing, and safety management, with a focus on underground intelligent robotics to support the normalization of minimally manned and unmanned operations.

The province will support cities and counties in developing grassroots smart governance demonstration scenarios across key areas such as urban management, transportation, healthcare, education, eldercare, community services, and government services.

Provincial digital transformation promotion centers will be established in key enterprises, industries, and regions to enhance digital transformation technology supply capabilities, promote efficient supply-demand interactions, and ensure targeted resource allocation.
