The 2026 Shanxi Provincial Key Projects and Private Investment Financing Promotion Conference took place in Taiyuan on Jan 29. The event, running under the banner "Optimizing Financial Support, Serving Major Projects", aimed to inject robust financial momentum into the province's economic growth.
Over 350 guests attended the conference, which featured policy interpretations, project promotions, signing ceremonies, and business training sessions designed to break down information barriers and foster consensus on key issues based on collaboration and shared ideas.
Government officials introduced the key provincial projects for this year, highlighted the financing needs of major private enterprises, and discussed the resolution of "100 bottlenecks" in key projects.
Four companies then presented their financing needs for sci-tech and green projects, including anti-cancer drug research and optical storage ecosystems. Five financial institutions, including the China Development Bank, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, and Bank of China, showcased their financing policies and solutions to support the implementation of key projects.
Financial institutions also signed letters of intent with 15 key projects, with intended financing exceeding 23 billion yuan ($3.31 billion). These projects cover various sectors, including transportation, energy, environmental protection, and culture and tourism.
This year, the province is launching 629 key projects, with a total investment above 2.4 trillion yuan and an annual planned investment of 282.93 billion yuan. These projects span foundational infrastructure, public welfare initiatives, and high-quality platforms driving industrial upgrades.
