Shanxi achieves 2025 livelihood goals ahead of schedule

As of Dec 16, 2025, Shanxi province completed all 15 key livelihood projects ahead of schedule, focusing on areas such as elderly care, childcare, employment, social security, disease screening, and rural vitalization, significantly enhancing the sense of gain, happiness, and security among its citizens.

In the realm of healthcare and emergency services, robust measures were implemented to safeguard public health. Addressing the high incidence of upper gastrointestinal cancers, all 117 counties and districts in the province conducted comprehensive screenings for high-risk groups, assessing 30,934 individuals in total. 

Quality of life was further improved through enhanced elderly care services and housing upgrades. In 2025, a total of 1,224 elevators were installed in existing residential buildings, benefiting nearly 15,000 households. Additionally, the province established 50 new or renovated community elderly care projects, 50 regional elderly care service centers, and 100 standardized community dining halls, creating a comprehensive network to benefit the elderly.

In rural vitalization and agricultural security, the construction of standardized drinking water sources in 50 townships and 650 villages was completed, reaching 69 counties and 317 townships, and providing safe drinking water to over 3.39 million residents.

In the agricultural domain, the comprehensive coverage rate of full-cost insurance for major grain crops reached 90.41 percent, bolstering farmers' confidence in grain production.

Employment support and assistance for people with disabilities were also strengthened. The pioneering "Huishangbao" special insurance continued to alleviate the burden felt for businesses, benefiting 50,600 commercial entities in 2025.

Additionally, 13,088 children with disabilities received rehabilitative assistance, and 56,362 individuals benefited from subsidies for basic assistive devices.
