Updated: 2019-11-27

A comic series based on the works of Chinese science fiction writer Liu Cixin will soon be published and distributed in the European publishing market.

Beijing Machuanqi Culture Communication Co recently authorized leading European comic publisher Delcourt Group to publish Liu's works in the form of comics in France during 2020 and 2021.

Around 30 cartoonists from nine countries -- including China, France, the United States, Italy, Spain and Argentina -- will adapt comics with international perspectives from more than 10 novels and short stories of Liu, such as The Wandering Earth, Ball Lightning and The Micro-Age

The comic series will be presented to readers around the world in the form of printed books, as well as digital and audio versions and derivatives, to promote Chinese original comics in the mainstream international publishing market and further broaden cultural folk communications between China and France.

Born in Yangquan city in Shanxi province, 56-year-old Liu Cixin won the Hugo Award for the Best Novel in 2015 for the first book in his sci-fi series, The Three-Body Problem. He was the first Asian writer to win the award.
