Healthcare firm favors Yangquan medical service development

Yangquan Coal Industry Group -- based in Yangquan city in east part of Shanxi province -- signed a medical project cooperation agreement with Genertec Universal Medical Group in the provincial capital city of Taiyuan on Dec 28, local officials said.

Genertec Universal Medical Group, a listed subsidiary of State-owned China General Technology (Group) Holding Co, is one of domestic leaders in the health and medical sector, owning 39 medical institutions across China.

A large State-owned enterprise in Shanxi and one of the Fortune Global 500 companies, Yangquan Coal Industry Group has a number of hospitals. Yangquan Coalmine General Hospital Management Co, a wholly owned subsidiary of the group, manages seven hospitals.

The partnership is a move to implement State-owned enterprise hospital reform, according to Gao Chunyi, deputy director of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Shanxi Provincial Government.

Officials said that by maintaining the role of SOE public hospitals, the hospitals of Yangquan Coal Industry Group will satisfy the diverse medical needs of the public and enhance their medical services in the future through the professional operations and platforms of Genertec Universal Medical Group.

Mayor Lei Jiankun said that the cooperation between two groups was of great significance to the reform of the local medical system and development of the health industry.

She said she hoped that Genertec Universal Medical Group would use its ample medical resources, strong financial strength and advanced management to help Yangquan and achieve mutually beneficial results. 

The two sides will now move on to the construction of a regional medical center.

They will establish a high-quality and efficient medical and health service system, to realize the joint and coordinated development of medical institutions in the city, according to Peng Jiahong, CEO of Genertec Universal Medical Group.

In addition, the two groups will also explore new senior service practices featuring a combination of medical and health care, said Wang Yongge, general manager of Yangquan Coal Industry Group.
