The construction of the Yangquan Sea World aquarium project in Yangquan city in central Shanxi province was recently completed, according to city officials.

They said that the facility, which is located at Binhe New World Plaza, is unique marine-themed amusement project that was funded by Guangzhou Ronghai Technology Development Co for more than 30 million yuan ($4.3 million).

The construction area of the aquarium is 3,300 square meters and the total water volume is 1,000 metric tons. It features science education, sightseeing and amusement services through interactive displays and experience activities.

The new aquarium is expected to boost the local economy. It has already established partnerships with a number of travel agencies in Yangquan city and planned tour routes, to attract tourists from surrounding cities and further promote the development of the city's accommodation and catering industries.
