Pingding county completes key upgrade of veggie greenhouses

Updated: 2020-01-07

Pingding county in Yangquan city in Shanxi province has implemented a series of intelligent and automated upgrades of vegetable greenhouses in local Ganquanjing, Nanyangsheng and Nanshangzhuang villages in 2019, with the project covering more than 33 hectares of cultivated land.

During the project roll out, Ganquanjing village invested special funds to build a new 10-hectare steel frame greenhouse with an automatic monitoring and control system, to prevent mishaps and ensure that various vegetables grow under suitable lighting conditions.

Nanshangzhuang village reconstructed existing greenhouses covering more than six hectares, for a mushroom production center.

Qingquan Planting Cooperative in Nanshangzhuang village bought machines combining watering and fertilizing functions and installed a soil and air temperature and humidity monitoring system.

With it, farmers can view and adjust the temperature in the greenhouses with their mobile phones, to guarantee the growth of out of season vegetables.

To smooth the construction of the project, the Pingding agriculture and rural affairs bureau regularly sent professional technicians to the villages to guide production, promote new technologies and help farmers solve problems encountered in planting.

Officials said the project has been completed and passed inspection by the county and Yangquan city.

The county will next build a number of high-standard vegetable production facilities and encourage agricultural cooperatives and enterprises to apply an internet of things control system to intelligent management in vegetable planting.
