Yangquan unlocks ancient lock exhibition

Updated: 2020-01-14

A special exhibition on ancient Chinese locksets -- hosted by Shanxi Folk Arts Museum and Yangquan Museum -- opened in Yangquan city in Shanxi province on Jan 10, according to the organizers.

The exhibition, which will run until April 2020, has put on show 126 ancient locks and keys collected by Shanxi Folk Arts Museum in five sections at Yangquan Museum.

A free lecture -- which explained the ancient locks on display in detail and invited the audience to touch and unlock them -- was given by the museum together with Yangquan Library on Jan 11.

Locks have a history of more than 5,000 years in China, according to unearthed cultural relics and historical documents.
