The 13th Yangquan Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) -- the top political advisory body in Yangquan -- started its fourth session in the city in North China's Shanxi province on April 21, with 263 political advisers attending the 3.5-day event.

During the session, political advisers performed their responsibilities of political consultations, democratic supervision and political participation -- and put forward suggestions on the overall work of Yangquan city's development and local people's concerns.

Yang Yongsheng, chairman of the 13th CPPCC Yangquan Municipal Committee, delivered its work report.

The report said that the committee will further grasp the themes of unity and democracy and give full play to its role as a consulting channel for democracy and as special political consultation body in 2020, so as to contribute to the city's transformation and development.

Since the third session of the 13th CPPCC Yangquan Municipal Committee in February 2019, the political advisers have submitted 417 proposals focusing on high-quality development, the general concerns of people -- as well as proposals on pollution prevention and treatment, poverty alleviation and on solving other problems.

Officials said that many proposals have been handled by the Yangquan Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and Yangquan government, helping the decision making and civil work over the past year.
