The 1-kilometer-long Saiyu Train Night Market in Yangquan city in North China's Shanxi province has been bustling with visitors and merchants since its opening in June, according to local officials.

The night market's management office began to prepare for the kickoff of the night market in May and planned for a comprehensive fair integrating catering, leisure, entertainment and shopping services.

Officials said its opening has built a platform for merchants affected by the novel coronavirus pandemic to earn a living.

Li Meng, owner of a steak house at the night market, made a success in her first business by attracting customers through low prices and mouth-watering dishes.

To keep order in the night market with increasingly more visitors and merchants, the management office has carefully planned for fire escapes and the safe positioning of stands and increased security personnel who regularly patrol.

As for environment, the office has required merchants to keep tidy surroundings around their own stalls and expanded the sanitation team to carry out regular street cleaning.

Currently, the Saiyu Train Night Market has more than 400 stalls visited by 50,000-60,000 people on average each day, making it a must-see place for Yangquan locals after dusk.
