On Dec 25, Cuifeng Mountain Scenic Area in Yangquan, North China's Shanxi province, announced the completion of artificial snowmaking for its Fengxue Carnival ski project. This marked a significant step in the area's effort to boost its ice and snow economy.

The scenic area, a national 4A-level tourist destination, has prepared an 800-meter cultural avenue for winter activities. In some sections, artificial snow layers reach up to 1 meter.

In September, the Yangquan Suburban State-Owned Capital Operation Co took over operations of the scenic area, initiating upgrades and partnering with Shanxi Hengxinghui Cultural Tourism Co to develop winter sports facilities. Since Dec 10, the company has utilized sub-zero nighttime temperatures to produce artificial snow, creating pristine white slopes and trails.

According to Zhang Qing, head of the scenic area, the ski project is set to open on Jan 1, with workers currently assembling and testing equipment such as snow bikes, sleds, snowmobiles, and ski machines. "We aim to provide exciting winter sports experiences while driving the development of the local ice and snow economy," Zhang said.

This initiative positions Cuifeng Mountain as a key player in promoting winter tourism and invigorating the region's economy through innovative snow sports projects.
