China's first trade digitalization center is expected to be built in the Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District, according to an agreement signed between the certificate affairs department of the Ministry of Commerce and the administrative commission of Hongqiao International CBD during the 2022 Trade Digitalization for Cross-border E-commerce Development Forum on Nov 7.
The center is designed to be a public platform integrating research and development, exhibitions, conferences, exchanges, activities, resource sharing, services and businesses.
It will fully utilize trade data to promote the digitalization of the entire trading process, covering R&D, marketing, cross-border clearance, logistics and storage, financing and after-sales services, aiming to enhance the comprehensive competitiveness of companies.
After starting operations, the center plans to host a series of international and national activities, carry out industrial and technical standards research, and will be committed to cultivating professionals in the sector.
It also aims to bring in leading enterprises in foreign trade, freight forwarding, science and technology, and finance, as well as innovative enterprises to form an industrial cluster.
To date, 20 institutions have expressed intentions to set up operations at the center, including Singapore-based CrimsonLogic, JD Cloud, Onion Global, Bank of China, Shanghai International Freight Forwarders Association and the Shanghai Customs Brokers Association.
