The railway sector in the Yangtze River Delta region has opened more stations to handle high-speed train freight services and offered various logistics options to facilitate the annual November online shopping bonanza, aiming to meet demand for delivery, according to China Railway Shanghai Group Co.

A total of 17 railway stations have developed high-speed railway express delivery services for this year's online shopping festival, operating 253 routes to cover more than 120 big and medium-sized cities across the country.

Various options for express services have been provided, covering areas from cold chain to different delivery speed demands. Customers can choose to have their products delivered in one, two or three days.

Since Nov 1, the YRD railway sector has arranged for 437 express trains to carry over 3.85 million e-commerce packages totaling 10,766.9 tons. Another 214,500 packages totaling 2,952 tons were transported on high-speed railways.

More services are provided to cater to cold chain express delivery, offering eight types of boxes in different sizes ranging from 4 liters to 140 L. Various temperature settings are also available to store different types of products.

These services will last from Nov 1 to Nov 20, the peak delivery period for the popular shopping day of Nov 11, also known as "Double 11".
