Headquarters economy drives Changning district's development in Shanghai

The Linkong Economic Park in Changning district, Shanghai boasts a high density of company headquarters, with the density not only referring to the amount, but also the output value and the agglomeration effect that these companies have generated, according to a local business operator.

Shen Leying, president and one of the founders of Landleaf Tech, made the remarks during a recent talkshow hosted by the publicity department of the CPC Changning district committee and Radio Shanghai.

Shen said that one of the highlights of Changning's headquarters economy is that many high-end industry headquarters have settled here and have generated a spill-over effect in the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) region.

"Hongqiao is designed to be a transportation and commercial hub that links the YRD region. Thus many companies, especially foreign-funded ones that have many factories across the region, would choose to set up their regional headquarters in Hongqiao," said Luo Ying, head of the third institute of the China Academy of Urban Planing and Design Shanghai Branch.

"The most notable feature of Changning, which is located in the east part of Hongqiao, is being a cluster in the aviation economy, digital economy and headquarters economy," Luo added.

In recent years, Changning has also witnessed the boom of the digital economy, and both the local government and companies have recognized the significance and bright prospects of the new online economy.

"Changning has two keywords - fashion and digital economy, and both correspond to our company's development," said Li Yi, who is in charge of the public relations of Buy Quickly, a fashion company that offers one stop full-service e-commerce solutions.

Buy Quickly has worked with Linkong Economic Park, T-mall, one of China's largest e-commerce platforms, and other local companies to establish an industrial laboratory to attract more high-quality brands.
