The 2024 UN China Procurement Seminar was recently held in Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District, opening the door for businesses to explore international public procurement opportunities and offering a platform for UN systems to connect with top Chinese companies and products.

The seminar attracted over 300 domestic and international elites, including representatives from UN-related agencies, government officials, renowned company representatives, and industry experts.

Shen Weihua, deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, stated that Shanghai is not only the economic, financial, trade, shipping, and sci-tech innovation center of China but also one of the most dynamic and technologically influential cities in the world. Shanghai hopes to further deepen international exchanges and cooperation through the event and promote the optimization and upgrading of the global supply chain, contributing to the building of an open world economy.

Zhang Bin, deputy director of the Hongqiao International CBD Administrative Committee, said that Hongqiao CBD is committed to accelerating the construction of the Silk Road e-commerce, and promoting Shanghai's comprehensive service center for the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), providing services that allow exhibitors to connect with BRI countries. Leveraging international and specialized services, Hongqiao CBD will build a more suitable international trade business environment for enterprise development.

Additionally, James George, deputy resident representative of United Nations Development Programme in China, and Maria Cristina Palamini, head of programme for East Asia and Pacific of United Nations Office for Project Services, shared their visions and expectations for international public procurement.
