The eighth China International Import Expo (CIIE) has wrapped up successfully at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai's Hongqiao International Central Business District, showcasing Hongqiao's excellence in hosting large-scale exhibitions and reinforcing Shanghai's role as a leading global business hub.
This year's expo spanned over 367,000 square meters and attracted over 4,108 exhibitors from 138 countries, including 290 Fortune Global 500 companies. The value of intended deals made at the expo reached a record high of approximately $83.5 billion, a 4.4 percent year-on-year increase from last year.
Several improvements enhanced the experience for exhibitors. These included shortening the setup period, allowing exhibitors to choose their own contractors, and reducing service costs. A smart navigation system was also implemented to help visitors get around more easily.
Catering services were improved with more affordable meal options and better online ordering. The expo also expanded its language support and streamlined the registration process using smart technology, making it easier and more comfortable for everyone involved.
In addition to the main event, the Hongqiao CBD offered various activities, shopping promotions, and cultural experiences. Exhibitors and visitors enjoyed exclusive discounts and privileges with a single badge.
For the first time, about 50,000 members of the public were invited to attend the expo, offering them a chance to experience the event's highlights and engage directly with exhibitors. This initiative increased the event's popularity and facilitated greater interaction between exhibitors and attendees.
