Wangcang is known as the "pearl of northern Sichuan" for its picturesque scenery. Serving as capital of the Sichuan-Shaanxi Soviet area, the Fourth Front Red Army's base in 1930s, it also has lots of revolutionary relics, such as the Red Army Town of China and the Mumen Military Meeting Site.

In recent years, the county has spared no efforts to draw more attention to its natural resources. Photographers and members of artists and calligraphers associations have been invited to go there to get some inspiration.

In addition, the county has carried out promotional activities featuring red leaves and revolutionary sites in East China's Zhejiang province and surrounding cities including Chongqing, Xi'an and Chengdu, which attracted a number of tourists.
