Guangyuan boosts ties with Russia's Mendeleevsk

Guangyuan, a city in Southwest China's Sichuan province, held a virtual meeting with Mendeleevsk in Russia's Republic of Tatarstan, on Dec 13 in an effort to consolidate bilateral cooperation.

Guangyuan mayor Dong Li extended sincere greetings to all people from Mendeleevsk. He said his city has grasped the opportunities provided by the Belt and Road initiative and actively taken part in the construction of the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor (CMREC) over the past several years.

According to Dong, Mendeleevsk, a beautiful and modern city imbued with great vitality, boasts advantageous chemical and food processing industries and is highly complementary with Guangyuan in the clean energy sector.

He said Guangyuan is willing to deepen mutual understanding and enhance bilateral cooperation in trade, industrial innovation, social services and other sectors, which will lay a solid foundation for friendly relations between the two sides.

Radmir Belyaev, president of the Executive Committee of Mendeleevsk, gave an introduction to his city, stating that it is blessed with rich transportation and agricultural resources.

He called on both cities to further expand their cooperation in the agricultural, industrial and educational sectors, adding that Mendeleevsk is also looking forward to becoming a bridge for cooperation between Guangyuan and other Russian cities in Tatarstan.

Those in attendance also included Wu Yong, vice-mayor of Guangyuan, and other senior officials from both cities.
