Immersive live-action drama attracts tourists in Guangyuan

The large-scale immersive live-action drama The Jiameng History, first staged in Zhaohua ancient town, Guangyuan, Southwest China's Sichuan province in 2020, has injected vitality into local tourism.

There's no main stage for the drama. Tourists can appreciate the performance while strolling around the courtyards of Zhaohua ancient town, which is famous for its Shu Kingdom culture dating back to the Three Kingdoms period (220-280). It feels like the characters are really there with the tourists.

The performers' dancing is accompanied by music and lighting. They tell stories that took place 1,000 years ago.

Notably, most of the 110 roles are played by residents of Zhaohua, ranging in age from 15 to 70. Families are able to earn 2,000 yuan per month by performing during the peak season.

The drama has been performed more than 100 times on weekends and holidays, receiving more than 30,000 views.
