Cuiyun Corridor, located in the Jianmen Pass national scenic area in Jiange county, Guangyuan, Sichuan province, is a good place for self-driving tours.

The 1,000-km-long promenade has 7,803 ancient cypresses on both of its sides. Starting from the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC), rulers of successive dynasties issued orders to plant cypress trees along Shudao, the first and best-preserved man-made ancient post road with the longest service life in China.

Regulations for Jianmen Shudao's preservation came into force on Jan 1. The roads, bridges, crossings, posts, ancient cypresses, cliff statues and stone carvings, temples, former residences and tombs are all protected by law.

Jiange planted "second-generation cypresses" from 2019 to reinforce the greenery along Shudao. The country also conducted a tree census and created a related database by collecting GPS coordinates, tree height, crown width, tree age and other data.
