Guangyuan, a city of Southwest China's Sichuan province, launched its National Energy Efficiency Promotion Week in Lizhou district on June 14. This event was also held to mark the arrival of National Low Carbon Day, which fell on June 15.

During the opening ceremony, Zou Zijing, Party secretary of Guangyuan, unveiled a plaque for Sichuan Liangshan Ecology & Environmental Protection Technology Co and Dongba branch of Guangyuan Rural Commercial Bank in recognition of their contributions to energy conservation and low-carbon development.

In his speech, Zou stressed that the city will strengthen institutional reform to press ahead with ecology-oriented economy and promote the implementation of a piloted scheme in assessment of ecological products.  

Local firms will be provided with support for their fulfillment of their corporate social responsibilities, such as reduction of carbon emissions, research and development of technologies for lowering the consumption of energy, and building of a green, low-carbon and circular economy.

Several companies signed cooperative deals with Sichuan United Environment Exchange at the ceremony. They were Guangyuan Municipal Development and Reform Commission, Guangyuan Financial Supervision and Administration, Guangyuan Department of Ecology and Environment, Guangyuan Forestry Administration and Guangyuan branch of the People's Bank of China.
