The Sichuan Opera Festival is a national art event, and it has been held for four sessions. This is the first time that Chongqing organized the event.

The opera tells the story of Cao Cao, a prominent strategist during the Three Kingdoms (220-280). Cao fails to assassinate a warlord Dong Zhuo and flees from the ancient capital Chang'an. He is fortunately saved by a county magistrate Chen Gong, who admires Cao and decides to follow him. On their journey, they stayed at a villager Lyu Boshe's home, but Cao kills Lyu and his family. Chen is ashamed of Cao's actions and they part ways.

Lu Hongtao, a national secondary level actor, performed in the opera He has won second prize in the 5th Sichuan Opera Young Actors Competition in 2020.
