Latest data shows that Zhaohua is home to 1,108 ancient and precious trees. As of now, the district has rejuvenated nearly 300 trees through pest control, patching tree holes, installing trunk supports and lightning rods, and improving their living environments.

"We applied organic fertilizer, compound fertilizer and rooting powder based on each tree's conditions. We also provided each with enough water," said a person in charge, surnamed Sun.

The district has carried out annual surveys of ancient and precious trees in order to get a clear understanding of tree species, numbers, distribution, age and coordinates.

"Forest rangers and emergency management team members will strengthen routine patrols in the mountain to help curb potential hazards in a timely manner," said Zhang Shaocai, deputy head of the Hongjun Mountain community.
