Cangxi county, Guangyuan, Southwest China's Sichuan province, opened its Red-centered Kiwifruit Picking Festival on Aug 26.

The festival, which aims to expand the county's kiwi sales and help the local kiwi industry, offers visitors a chance to pick fresh fruit and negotiate deals.

Cangxi is the place-of-origin of the red kiwifruit. The Cangxi Red-centered Kiwifruit has won the Gold Award at the China Brand Trademark Expo three times. In 2020, it received China-Europe mutual recognition on geographical indication protection.

The county has realized the large-scale planting, standardized production and industrialized operation of red kiwifruit. As of now, its planting area stretches 11,800 hectares, with the whole industrial chain absorbing more than 220,000 employees.

Fresh kiwifruits from the county have been exported to more than 20 countries and regions, including the European Union, Japan and Singapore. Furthermore, almost 60 kinds of preliminarily processed products, such as jam, ratafee and preserved fruits, have entered large supermarkets across China.
