"It's a bumper year," said Wang Zhusheng, a villager in Qingquan village. "I have planted more than 6.67 hectares of walnut trees. I can sell walnuts for around 60,000 yuan ($8517.9) annually or even 100,000 yuan when the market is good.”

In recent years, Chaotian district has promoted the modern walnut trees plantation.

As of August 2022, the walnut planting area in Chaotian district has reached 33,333 hectares. The walnut industry becomes one of the main ways to increase income for local villagers.

Chaotian walnut got the national geographical indication product certification mark, the well-known trademark in China.

As early as 2003, Chaotian district established a walnut industry technology research institute. It also cooperated with the academy of forestry and agricultural university to select excellent walnut tree varieties.

In addition, the district has introduced eight enterprises that produce walnut oil, walnut moon cakes, walnut cakes, and walnut kernel snack foods. The district has become a walnut deep processing center, with the processing capacity reaching 10,000 tons a year.
