Farmers' harvest festival celebrated in Guangyuan

A celebration of this year's Chinese farmers' harvest festival was held in Weijia town, Zhaohua district, Guangyuan, Southwest China's Sichuan province, on Sept 21.

During the event, the Zhaohua district government and the China National Rice Research Institute signed a strategic cooperation agreement.

Seven family demonstration farms in Guangyuan city were issued licenses.

In addition, representatives from seven institutes, including the Cangxi County Kiwifruit Industry Technology Research Institute, received the National Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fishery Harvest Award and the Sichuan Agricultural Harvest Award.

A number of activities were held to celebrate the harvest festival, such as an agricultural special products exhibition, an agricultural experience, and an agricultural production skills competition.

Since the beginning of the year, Guangyuan has increased grain production and improved characteristic industries, maintaining stable grain production and an increase in farmers' income.

As of now, the city has 28,133 hectares of land for soybean-corn strip compound planting, and its yearly grain output is expected to hit more than 1.61 million tons this year.
