Guangyuan residents enjoy better living standards

The living standards of residents in Guangyuan, Southwest Chinas Sichuan province, have been improved significantly in the past decade.

In 2021, Guangyuan people's per capita disposable income was 25,812 yuan ($3572.78), having seen an average annual increase of 10.4 percent since 2012.

Over the past 10 years, Guangyuan has spared no effort in constructing affordable housing and renovating old residential areas to improve the living environment of urban and rural residents.

By the end of 2021, the per capita housing area of urban residents reached 43.94 square meters, an increase of 32 percent over 2012, and the per capita housing area of rural residents was 52.66 square meters, up by 50.4 percent over 2012.

Facilities for schools have been improved, and the number of teachers continues to rise, making it easier for school-age students to go to school.

In 2021, the city had 727 schools of all levels and types, excluding village primary teaching sites, with 388,900 students and 28,500 full-time teachers.

It is also more convenient for residents to see a doctor. As of the end of 2021, the city had 3,210 medical and health institutions at all levels and types, including village clinics, 22,118 beds and 20,712 medical workers.

The city also improved its pension, medical care, serious illness, work-related injury, and unemployment insurance systems, and built a tiered and classified social assistance system.
