Autumn is golden, and farmers in Zhaohua district, Guangyuan, Sichuan province, are reaping a rich harvest of persimmons.

Ripe persimmons hang from the branches of more than 2,000 trees, gracing Niutou Mountain with the glowing lantern-like fruits. The century-old persimmon trees complement the traditional villages under the blue mountain, creating chocolate box scenery.

"I made a special trip from Chengdu to photograph the beauty of Niutoushan Mountain persimmons. The environment there is very comfortable," said shutterbug Cheng.

Under the persimmon trees, local villagers can be found busy gathering and cleaning the fruits. Persimmons have been placed around every house in the village, as they become sweeter after exposure to the sun for two to three weeks.

At present, persimmon planting and processing is a characteristic industry for local people to increase their income.

"Persimmon trees require little management throughout the year. We only need to wait for a concentrated harvest. This year, my family is expected to earn more than 3,000 yuan ($414.3) collecting persimmons," said Luo Shujun, a villager in Niutou village.
