Winter in Guangyuan brings burst of color
In late November, more than 2,000 square kilometers of colorful forests in Guangyuan, Sichuan province, become a patchwork quilt of color. Green trees transform into a sea of gold and crimson.

In Wangcang county, the forest resources are most abundant in the Gucheng Mountains, the Qilixia Scenic Resort, Wangcang Grand Canyon Forest Park and the Mengzi Gorge.
There are more than 400 species of red-leaf plants there, spanning 60 families, most of which are rare species. Wangcang is the origin and modern distribution center of Fagus plants in the world, and has the largest preserved primary Fagus forests in China.

The Tangjiahe area of the Giant Panda National Park is home to 4,000 hectares of colorful forests. A demonstration park for biodiversity conservation, it protects the major habitats of giant pandas, Sichuan golden monkeys, Sichuan takins and rare plants, including the Chinese dove tree and Taxus chinensis.

The forest grows on a karst landform in Zengjia Mountain and is decorated with a riot of colors, with five-cornered maple, yellow roses, water lilywood and larch bringing joyous reds and golds, and alpine rhododendron evergreen pines and cypresses offering a touch of blue.
The millennium-old Jianmen Pass is intertwined with various colors, depicting a bright picture of autumn scenery. Standing on a glass viewing platform, visitors are able to enjoy a panoramic view of Jianshan Mountain.
