Greetings bring students from China, Indonesia closer

Teachers and students from No 1 Jialing Middle School in Guangyuan, Sichuan province, sent New Year greeting cards to their peers in Indonesia, ahead of Spring Festival.

Upon receiving the gifts, the overseas Chinese children happily conveyed their gratitude and wishes through a video.

The two sides also gathered online to talk about Empress Wu Zetian (624-705), Zhaohua ancient town and Jianmen Pass, which represent Guangyuan's rich culture.

The overseas Chinese students showed an interest in Guangyuan delicacies as well as intangible heritage skills, such as stone carving and embroidery.

According to local media, the activity was sponsored by the Sichuan Overseas Friendship Association.

The organization called for four schools in Guangyuan's Lizhou district to send a series of gifts, including self-made greeting cards, couplets, music lanterns and comic strips of the Four Great Classical Novels, to Chinese schools in Laos, Indonesia and Italy.
