China-Europe cargo train to boost Guangyuan's economy

A China-Europe freight train set off from Guangyuan International Railway Port in Guangyuan, a city in Southwest China's Sichuan province, at around 7:37pm on Mar 16, with its final destination of St. Petersburg, Russia.

The train, loaded with 55 containers of auto parts and label paper products valuing more than 12 million yuan ($1.76 million), departed from Guangyuan South Station, and was expected to arrive in the destination in two weeks.

As of now, a total of 4,800 tons of goods worth 73.6 million yuan have been transported to European clients since the inauguration of the China-Europe freight train service in August, last year.

Luo Jie, Party secretary of the Working Committee of Guangyuan International Railway Port, vows to improve the infrastructure level and cargo assembly capacity of the port to channel its railway resources into economic strength.

"We have provided import and export business information for local firms in aluminum, medical equipment, food, clothing and footwear," said Chen Ran, manager of the Guangyuan International Railway Port Construction and Development Co, adding that the city has established stable relations with over 20 logistics, trade and multimodal transportation enterprises.
