Guangyuan, Sichuan province, launched the first city-level games for basketball, volleyball and football on Mar 11.

The event brought together over 50 delegations with nearly 2,000 athletes, coaches and referees from government departments, public institutions and enterprises in seven counties and district.

The event is comprised of group matches, point races, cross-group matches and final competitions.

According to organizers, the basketball games are scheduled to be held from Mar 11 to 19; the volleyball games are expected to be staged from Mar 28 to April 2; and the football games are set to be convened from April 1 to 7.

Over the past few years, Guangyuan has undertaken a series of major sports events, including the National Women's Basketball Championship and part of the Sichuan provincial Three Big-Ball games. In addition, it also established the "Jianmenguan Cup" campus sports event.
