Infrared cameras in Tangjiahe Area of the Giant Panda National Park captured footage of two wild giant pandas mating and playing on a tree from Mar 27 to 28.

Chen Limin, Party secretary of Tangjiahe National Nature Reserve, said that giant pandas are inclined to climb up and play on trees in order to demonstrate their willingness to mate or when escaping from danger.

Judging from their behavior in relevant video clips, the couple was courting, Chen added. The video also showed that there were also teenage pandas nearby to gain mating experience.

According to the reserve, mating clips were also found on March 3, 4 and 21, further confirming that the area has become an important habitat for wild giant pandas.
