A promotional event featuring Guangyuan's cultural tourism and tea industry was held in Lanzhou, capital of Northwest China's Gansu province, on April 21.

Guangyuan boasts profound cultural and rich natural resources for high-quality tea cultivation, said Cai Bangyin, deputy Party secretary of the city at the ceremony.

To date, Guangyuan has built over 33,000 hectares of tea plantations and 13 modern tea parks and has obtained four national geographical indication trademarks. The first-quarter sales of the local tea industry was 828 million yuan ($119.78 million) and its comprehensive output value is expected to hit over seven billion yuan this year.

Four expressways and railways now traverse Guangyuan, with the city having also been connected with Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen cities via 17 domestic flights. Thanks to its convenient transport facilities, the city has sold its tea products to northwestern China, central Asian countries, Russia and countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.

During the ceremony, several enterprises from Guangyuan and Lanzhou signed cooperative deals. Travel agencies also unveiled their tourism products featuring the travel lines and tea products of Guangyuan.
