The 2nd Sichuan Mind Sports Games will formally open at Australian Sports Center Stadium in Guangyuan, a city of Southwest China's Sichuan province, on May 11, according to a press conference in Chengdu on May 5.

Jointly held by the Sichuan Administration of Sports, the Sichuan Sports Federation and the Guangyuan Municipal People's Government, the upcoming mind sports games comprises 83 specific competition events across six main categories.

Zhu Ming, deputy director-general of the Sichuan Administration of Sports, said that the mind sports games has become the most comprehensive chess-related sports event in Sichuan and has been held concurrently with the National Mind Sports Games.

To date, relevant preparation work has gone smoothly and Guangyuan has made the utmost effort to deliver a splendid event.

Over the past few years, Guangyuan has successfully undertaken the National Women's Basketball Tournament, the 13th Sichuan Provincial Sports Games, the Big Shudao Marathon Competition and the Jialing River Swimming Competition.

Meanwhile, the city has held over 500 sports events annually, seeing the participation of more than one million people.
