Guangyuan to boost boutique tourist homestay industry

The 2023 Guangyuan Homestay Investment Promotion Conference was held on June 2, in Chengdu, capital of Southwest China's Sichuan province.

During the event, Guangyuan promoted 39 homestay plots covering an area of about 573,000 square meters. The present enterprises signed 10 projects with Guangyuan's four counties and three districts, with a total investment of 3.79 billion yuan.

"Going to Guangyuan for health and wellness vacations has become a new trend; investing in homestays in Guangyuan has become a new opportunity for entrepreneurs." He Shuping, the city's Party secretary, extended an invitation to attendees of the conference to come to Guangyuan for sightseeing, investigation and cooperation.

He pointed out that the homestay industry has ushered in an opportunity to accelerate development in Guangyuan. The local government vows to create an optimal business environment, and provide full-process follow-up services to cover all stages of projects in the region.

"Guangyuan has obvious advantages in developing homestays," said Yuan Yi, deputy director of the provincial department of culture and tourism, "it is the hometown of Empress Wu Zetian, and is rich in cultural resources, including Shudao culture, Three Kingdoms culture, and red culture.

Living in Guangyuan is very comfortable and the city has an average annual temperature of 16 degrees. Its forest coverage rate has risen to 69.2 percent, and the percentage of days with good air quality has hit 87.5 percent.

At present, there are 62 tourist homestays in Guangyuan. In 2022, the homestay industry saw more than 5,000 local people increase their income, with a per capita increase of more than 6,000 yuan.

According to the plan, Guangyuan will strive to build more than 30 boutique tourist homestays by 2025.
