Guangyuan kiln workshop shines at ICH shopping festival

An intangible cultural heritage shopping festival was launched in the city of Luzhou, Southwet China's Sichuan province, on June 9, to mark the 2023 World Heritage Day.

During the event, Guangyuan city of Sichuan province promoted two local workshops responsible for producing Guangyuan Kiln ceramics and Micang Mountain Tea.

Guangyuan kiln crafts originated in the Tang Dynasty (618-907) and flourished in the Song Dynasty (960-1279). It fully absorbed the knowledge of porcelain making technology from the previous times, and innovatively created products with rich categories and unique shapes.

Green-glazed and yellow-glazed porcelain, with their distinctive decoration methods unique to Guangyuan, occupy an important position in the history of Chinese ceramic development.

Aside from porcelain making skills, three kinds of delicacies garnered much attention from visitors, including ice jelly, a dessert usually sold in the summertime as street food, Guangyuan liquor and oil with traditional fermentation or press techniques.
