Guangyuan holds activities to celebrate farmers' harvest festival

The celebrations for this year's Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival, which falls on Sept 23, opened in Yueba village, Guangyuan, Sichuan province, on Sept 20.

The on-site opening ceremony featured exhibitions showcasing rural revitalization achievements, agricultural product displays, and presentations of cultural heritage.

After the ceremony, a running fitness event was held for local rural residents, seeing the participation of more than 500 athletes, referees, and staff.

Chen Mengkun, member of the Leading Party Members' Group and deputy director of the Sichuan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, said in his speech that rural sports play an important role in rural revitalization. He hoped that farmers will actively participate in rural sports activities, promote physical fitness, and contribute to the building of vibrant and habitable rural communities.

Long Zhaoxue, deputy mayor of Guangyuan city, extended holiday greetings to farmers and those working in the agricultural sector in his speech. He said that Guangyuan will focus on enhancing agricultural income through such initiatives as building high-standard farmland, implementing policies to benefit farmers, improving agricultural product brands, and expanding agricultural product markets, to ensure farmers' income increases year after year.

According to Long, Guangyuan will be dedicated to promoting agricultural and rural modernization, prioritizing key industries, and striving to promote local agricultural and rural modernization.
