Guangyuan hold activities to mark intangible cultural heritage festival

Guangyuan city in Sichuan province launched a package of activities at Huangze Temple Scenic Area on Oct 11, as part of celebrations for the 8th Chengdu International Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival.

During the opening ceremony, a variety of fantastic performances - including Sichuan ballad-singing, dances and drama - were staged to showcase the charm of local heritage like stone carving, papercutting and the legend of Empress Wu Zetian of the Tang Dynasty (618-907).

Fifteen intangible cultural heritage experiential bases pertaining to Baihua Stone Carving, Micang Mountain Tea Production and other excellent technique skills were awarded certificates.

The activities were sponsored by the Guangyuan municipal government and the Sichuan provincial department of culture and tourism.

Accordingly, 10 more exhibitions and performances will be held from Oct 11 to 25 in scenic spots, communities, and campuses to promote the inheritance of intangible cultural heritage skills and the development of intangible cultural heritage services.
