The Girl's Festival of Guangyuan, Sichuan province, is a traditional Chinese holiday to commemorate Empress Wu Zetian of the Tang Dynasty (618-907).

In olden times, people would dress up and invite someone to stroll along the Jialing River in the hopes of receiving good luck on the 23rd day of the first lunar month – Empress Wu's birthday.

It has since become a shining calling card for Guangyuan and a colorful stage for women to showcase their beauty and confidence, embodying the spiritual essence of self-esteem, independence, and self-improvement.
