Nestled in the Cuiyun Corridor – a 150-kilometer-long, stone-paved, tree-lined post road in Guangyuan, Sichuan province – stand two ancient cypresses with intertwined roots and overlapping branches and leaves.

These trees, which are said to resemble a loving couple holding hands and whispering to each other, are affectionately known as the "Cypress Couple".

Despite enduring thousands of years of wind and rain, the Cypress Couple remain as green as ever. Many local newlyweds visit these trees, tying red ribbons to the branches and making wishes for a long and happy marriage.

The ancient cypresses in Guangyuan are living cultural relics, providing shade for generation after generation and inspiring people to sculpt countless legends filled with human meaning upon them.
