An authoritative research institution of the Chinese automotive industry, China Automotive Technology and Research Center Co., Ltd. (CATARC) established its first overseas branch in Munich, Germany, renowned across the globe for its automobile industry.
The company has been committed to promoting the cooperation between China and Germany in the field of intelligent networked vehicles (ICV). Recently, the Chinese and German government departments jointly signed an intention statement on the cooperation in the field of ICV. In this cooperation in the automobile industry, the China Central Automobile Center shoulders an important mission.
Considering the special importance of standards and regulations in the development of intelligent vehicles and in the right to speak internationally, a memorandum of understanding was signed by the National Automobile Standardization Committee and the German Automobile Industry Association during the fifth round of government consultations between China and Germany in July 2018. The aim of the memo was to establish a Sino-German Intelligent Networking Automotive Standards and Regulations Working Group in establishing a partnership of “equality, future-oriented, and mutual benefit.”
The cooperation between China and Germany on the standards of ICV is a milestone for Chinese car companies to cooperate with the European market.
Dr. Darmasky, Vice Chairman of the German Automobile Industry Association, said that China's "Belt and Road" initiative is tightening links between European and Asian countries, and cooperation in the field of intelligent networking will bring more opportunities to both countries.
The past five years have seen the improving relationship between China and Germany, deepening cooperation, and more fruitful results. The two countries extended cooperation from science and technology to aerospace, ocean, polar and network space. In recent years, Tianjin has focused on developing intelligence industries, promoting high-quality economic development. Cooperation with Germany is expected to inject energy for the future development of Tianjin.
Scientific and technological innovation is inseparable from skilled talents. Teachers and students from Tianjin Vocational and Technical Normal University have gone to Mainz to learn about German dual-system vocational education, and the lecturer, Professor Baker is not a stranger to Tianjin.
Baker, a German expert who has won both the China Government Friendship Award and the Tianjin Haihe Friendship Award, stated that his story with Tianjin started from 2005. He first came to the city to participate in the establishment of Tianjin Sino-German University of Applied Science. This is the largest intergovernmental cooperation project in vocational education between China and Germany. Ever since, he has had an indissoluble bond with Tianjin.
Due to the inconsistency of vocational education standards between China and Germany, Chinese vocational school graduates have to go through a series of studies and examinations in Germany. This is also a difficult problem in connecting the Sino-German vocational education. A few years ago, under Baker’s help, Tianjin Sino-German University of Applied Sciences became a sister school with Saarland University of Engineering and Technology. He hopes to explore a solution through the cooperation between the two schools.
Coinciding with the 40th anniversary of Sino-German cooperation in science and technology and the fifth anniversary of the “Belt and Road” initiative, the mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Germany in various fields, especially in the field of science and technology, will embrace a bright future!
