Egypt and China are both ancient civilizations as well as developing countries facing similar challenges in reform and development. Since the Belt and Road Initiative is highly compatible with Egyptian Suez Canal Corridor development strategy, the cooperation between China and Egypt can be described as a matter of course.

China-Egypt Teda Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone, an hour and a half drive from Cairo Airport in Egypt, is crystallization of the cooperation between China and Egypt.

The Egyptian government proposed the Suez Canal Corridor Development Plan to develop an area of 76,000 square kilometers of industrial manufacturing along the Suez Canal to accelerate the industrialization of Egypt. The TEDA Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone, located in the southernmost part of the plan is an intersection of China's Belt and Road Initiative and Egypt's Suez Canal Corridor Development Plan.

The zone, built by China-Africa TEDA Company ten years ago, has attracted 68 enterprises with investment of $1 billion, and has employed more than 3,500 people.It bears close relation with Tianjin as can be seen from the straight Tianjin Road, the neat factory and LOGO of TEDA.

An expansion plan of the zone, covering an area of six square kilometers, is to attract about 150 to 180 companies with expected investment of $ 2 billion and sales of $8 to 10 billion, providing more than 40,000 jobs.

The zone has introduced a development model of City-Industry Integration. An amusement park, built just besides the office block, includes hotel, dining and entertainment for children. It receives more than 100,000 person-times a year.

Official contacts have also seen an increase. Egypt has launched a new Investment Law to increase preferential policies for entry-investing enterprises.

The new capital CBD project in Egypt was built by a Chinese construction company. Upon completion, it will become a landmark building in Africa and become a new engine for Egypt's economic development.

Tianjin Branch of the China Construction Fifth Bureau has subcontracted two buildings of over-90-meter height. With tight schedule and high workload, the Chinese team is completely involved in the project.

Tough conditions such as the high temperature which can usually climb to 41 degrees and poisonous mosquitoes that left dark spots on arms. In addition, insufficient equipment makes the work even tougher.

Despite all these inverse situations, the team showed their confidence in completing the work as scheduled.
