In swimming events at the China national games of disabled persons, a 16-year-old young man, Cao Liuzhou, in his first time to join the competition won two gold and three silver medals and set new national records.

Mr. Wei, a swimming coach, thought Cao had some talent in swimming and recommended him to professional swimming teams.

"He doesn't like to talk with others so every day I accompany him to the training gym," said his father, who with his son has insisted for many years that no matter how hard the weather is they will make the trip from home to the training gym. "Swimming is a good beginning for my son because there is no effective cure for autism. But we are looking for it."

Cao is in his first year of junior high school. At night, even during the Games, his father read his lessons to him.

He had no responses to what his father said, but Cao's father patiently read the lessons again and again. “It was so comforting when my son won his events," he said with excitement. "It is meaningful for me as long as he is happy.”
