The university vigorously implemented the strategy of“strengthening talents”and established a high-level teaching and research team. Among the 1000 staff present, there are 4 double-hired academicians, 19 experts with special government subsidies under the State Council, 1 leading talent of National Ten Thousand Talents Program, 1 national excellent teacher, 8 candidates of Tianjin Thousand Talents Program, 10 municipal outstanding teachers, 1 Tianjin outstanding contribution expert, 12 candidates of the first level of Tianjin "131" innovative talents training project. The university has 11 municipal-level teaching teams.

Tianjin Agricultural University insists on promoting teaching through scientific research, and its academic level is constantly improved. It has set up 4 national level scientific research and innovation platforms and 50 provincial and ministerial level platforms. In addition, the university also has 94 industry-university-research consortium, and with 11 companies jointly established Tianjin key laboratory of enterprise. In the past five years, the university has undertaken 902 science and technology projects at all levels, including 466 projects at the provincial and ministerial level. 1 achievement won the second prize of national science and technology progress award; 49 achievements won the provincial and ministerial awards, including 1 first prize of national agriculture, animal husbandry and fishery harvest award and 2 first prizes of Tianjin science and technology progress award. Tianjin Agricultural University Journal has won the National Outstanding Journal award several times, as well as the Tianjin First Grade Journal award. It is regarded as an important agricultural database by many publishers, both in China and overseas.
