Tianjin Modern Vocational Technology College, founded in 2001, is a public full-time advanced vocational college. In 2010, it was granted as the National Demonstrative Backbone of Higher Vocational Institution, and was ranked as excellent college in 2015. In 2014, it built the teaching resource library for Teaching Resource of Biological Technology. 

In 2010, it established a 4-year diploma program with Tianjin University of Comme.Pakistan Luban Workshop was jointly constructed by Tianjin Modern Vocational Technology College and Punjab Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA). On July 18, 2018, Pakistani Luban Workshop was officially unveiled and started to operate in Punjab Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority. Pakistan Luban Workshop plays the role as the forward position for Tianjin vocational education to cultivate the technical talents along China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. 

The college owns 36 majors, including 7 leading domestic specialties and 3 municipal-level teaching reform specialties, such as Biology majors - Food Biotechnology, Food Nutrition and Testing, Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing Technology, Environmental Engineering Technology majors, Equipment Manufacturing Majors - Precision Machinery Technology, Control Technology of U.A.V, Internet of Things Application Technology, Mechatronics Technology. The majors well match the industry structure of Tianjin, of which Equipment Manufacturing Majors, Mechatronics Technology and Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing Technology are of 8 pillar industries of Tianjin.
